This is not an official resume, this is kind
of a mock resume. To be quite honest with you, I have never ever
submitted a resume in my life. This is a rough and summarized
version of it. If I listed all the ways I made money, it would take
you all day to read.
It all started back in the 3rd grade, on a
beautiful Hawaiian playground...
1991
-
Started selling chupa chups lollipops to other kids
on the playground for a quarter each.
-
Kids were getting tired of the chupa chups,
so I launched a new product line of sour gummy worms, sprinkled with li hing mui
powder (a tasty little powder that adds more fun to the party).
Later launched the strawberry belts line.
-
Got busted for selling food on campus, had
to switch up my game plan.
1992
-
Started selling slap wrist bracelets for a
buck each.
-
One of the first to start playing and
selling pogs (milk caps), the simplest game, but TONS of fun. I had a
source where I could get these CHEAP and I'd sell em' for a pretty profit.
-
The school banned pogs, they banned it!
They had nothing better to do I guess?
-
Sold Ice cold sodas at during various street
parades. Soda were bought for $0.25 each, sold for $0.60.
Pricing it at $0.60 was a little trick I would use to make em say "keep
the change". I'd either end up keeping a $1 or $0.75... man I was a
little genius back then.
1991-95
-
I wanted to make some serious bucks, so I
started delivering newspapers (Sun Press). This wasn't your typical
newspaper delivery, I actually had to collect the money door to door in
order to get paid. This however worked to my advantage because I got
to know my customers well, and tips came rolling in, especially around
Christmas time! The delivery was weekly, so that gave me a lot of
off time. Did this for about 3 years.
-
This was the age I started learning about
customer relations, product management, time efficiency, and money
management, or the lack there of.
-
In 95 graduated from the 6th grade, this is
where I went from public to private school. Big change in schedule,
had to get up at 5 o'clock in the morning, to make the 6 am bus, to make the first
bell at 7:35 am, started earlier than any other school I knew of.
-
Because of the rough schedule, I had to drop
the newspaper delivery gig, and I stopped the sports. I couldn't
make it home in time for delivering papers or sports practice.
School ended at around 3:20 in the afternoon, and the busses wouldn't
fully get us home until around 4:30 pm.
1995
-
Started selling novelty items, prank
items, stuff like that.
-
Had a source for the "good" fireworks, sold
those during the appropriate seasons, July 4th/New years.
1995-99
-
Sold Hundreds of Christmas wreathes at $25 a
pop.
-
Sold Makahiki Tickets (Discount Coupon
book), became the #1 Seller in Hawaii.
1997-2000
-
My dad bought me a moped for my birthday, I
ended up flipping it for a 400% profit. I caught the bug, and
started buying and selling mopeds. At one point my yard looked like
a used moped lot.
-
My brother and I started selling mixed cds.
$10 bucks for pre-made cds, $15 bucks for custom cds. We made bank,
brought home anywhere from $100-$300 a day. Couldn't keep up
with orders. We were one of the first to buy the cd writers, back
then we bought the top of the line cd writer and it was a 1x. It
took about 45 mins to produce each cd.
1998-2001
-
Started selling car audio - I had a source
giving me a commission on everyone that I brought in. Being that I
was in high school at the time, I knew many other people that wanted to
deck out their cars with the loudest speakers on the block.
-
A step up from mopeds, I started buying and
selling cars, bought and sold cars for a while.
-
Started selling consumer electronics - First
I started selling them locally then, I taught myself how to design web
pages and started a successful electronics company. I was
responsible for sourcing the products, payment processing, shipping, and
customer service. This lasted about 3 years.
2001-2004
-
Started college, put business on the back
burner. Not for long though. Business and making money flows
through my blood. I soon decided to put school on the back burner.
-
Initiated a few start up projects, all of
them failed. Worked tirelessly on becoming the next big thing!
Nothing materialized, however, I gained a lot of experience. I was
going to give up, and thought maybe I should just work for someone for the
rest of my life. I really thought about it, hard. Screw that,
I said.
-
This was the turning point. I
had been buying and selling online for a few years at this point. I
decided to take eBay and online money making seriously.
-
I started sourcing products online, and
flipped them for major profits online.
-
I started a website that was the first on
the net for myspace automation software. Extremely successful.
I was bought out a few months later :)
